Location

The house is located in Chorzów, in a new large development of single-family homes. The plot is surrounded on three sides by houses and on one side by a planned transit road serving the development. Due to the provisions of the local zoning plan, the buildings in the entire neighborhood are very diverse in form. There is freedom in the size of the buildings, their shapes, roof shapes, and the materials used.

Investor's guidelines

The client wanted a single-story house. The defined program for the house included many additional, above-standard features. The client wanted a house where they would feel safe above all else. A house with lots of space, light and greenery.

Idea

The idea is a closed, inaccessible house. A house with a system of internal spaces that are functionally and visually connected, opening onto the external garden in acontrolled manner.

Design solutions

The building is a rectangle with three towers rising above the ground floor. On the ground floor, we have designed functional rooms and gardens. The internal gardens, in the form of open patios and winter gardens, create a single interconnected system that permeates the entire interior of the house. All rooms are arranged around the internal green spaces. The internal gardens are visually or functionally accessible from all rooms of the house. The house is open with a large façade, in front of which there is a terrace facing the external garden. Along the entire length of the façade, we have designed a “sinking” curtain that closes off access to the house. The segmented division of the curtain allows access to the outdoor garden and terrace to be opened as needed.
