baza petrol station pavilion

Siercza | 2009

The investor's voice

By commissioning the design of a new service pavilion for an existing old gas station, the investor aimed to improve its standard, enrich the immediate surroundings with additional functions, and simultaneously protest against the ugliness of the low-quality architecture increasingly appearing around us.

The architect's role

We joined this protest with the intention of demonstrating that it is possible to design a building with such a seemingly banal function - one that is archetypically perceived as unattractive - in a completely different way. We took a firm stance against the aesthetic solutions commonly used in this type of construction today, while remaining mindful of the technical nature of the facility and the obligations imposed by its location, the surrounding landscape, and local spatial and functional conditions.
